Well, l've got one of the new fangled "Defenders" and it was delivered with no faults, and nothing has gone wrong in the first months of ownership
It actually feels very well made.
l'm not saying it's an authentic replacement for the classic Defender, but it is a good vehicle.

Mine is a 3.0 diesel and it's very strong, 250bhp and 570Nm torque at 1700rpm. lt would be great with a manual transmission but it's only available as an auto.

LR have not the best reputation over the years! As usual though, you only hear about the bad ones. I've got loads of customers with new Defenders, Evoque, Range Rovers etc and they've all been fine.
The vast majority of new Defender owners on the forum have no issues, in the "faults" section there's the usual issues that you find on most forums.
Often it's the dealers inability to fix issues that occur, not confined to Land Rover products
l remember when the Defender TD5 came out there were similar comments
Also the Defender "Puma" got a lot of flak from die hard Land Rover fans. Ford Transit engine....sacrilege!!
But they've proved to be okay and are now seen as the penultimate "classic" Defender

Is this confirmed? 300miles on a 100kW battery pack with the aerodynamics and weight of a Landy (even a new one) seems unliklely --- unless it is H2 fuel cell electric rather than plugin. Shame I find the new Landy so hard to like.
Not a fan of the Grenadier - and really not a fan of the owner. Did you see the launch of the Munro up here in Edinburgh recently. Looks like a cobble together of Britpart bits and somewhat like the Tesla 'whateveritscalled' truck; https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/electric/munro/l had a Grenadier order in, but had to cancel it because l needed delivery by March 2023, and as at November 2022 (when the Defender turned up) there was no news on delivery dates.
l basically ordered a Defender and a Grenadier early last year, because both vehicle orders could be cancelled without penalty.
The Grenadier was within £500 of what l paid for the Defender. Also it was available with a petrol engine which l preferred over diesel.
There's still no definite news on Grenadier delivery
To take advantage of a govt tax rebate scheme it needed to be registered by March 2023.
