Hi. Quick question
I'm getting tracking done in portugal and he is trying to find imperial spanners / sockets as its a landrover
Everything else i have done on the car is metric
Its a 2001 Portuguese FL1 td4
Isnt everything metric?
And what size are the tracking nuts?
Please
Cheers

Personally I used all metric on my 1.8 engine swap, but even then most imperial have a slight crossover in sizes so to me it realy doesn't matter just use the right size 🤷‍♂️

Yup. Iknow the equivalents that are ok if not siezed but I'm not doing the job.
I was just surprised that he found imperial sizes on the freelander, especially a LHD for Portugal

Maybe Landrover thought let's switch it up for LHD models and use imperial, they've not really been known for thinking intelligently 😂

its done now.
not sure what at, he talked about 1.37 mm but then said straight ahead.
I thought when i could speak fluently that i would understand but they never speak in a straight line here ...
As long as it passes mot im happy
Got a note last year tgat it was over 6 (m/km i think) and because LR hadent informed them of correct values this was a fail.
My LR mecgqnic said this was bul**** but what can you do.
I am going to punch the next person who says that it must be great to live in such a 'relaxed' culture.
Took me 3hours to get tracking done

Just for future Reference:

Everything is metric in my experience on my TD4 FL1 Facelift 2005 LHD.

This week I discovered that draper tools and a mix of other spanners were too "loose" on the 10mm anti-roll bar bush retaining bracket screws. I finally tried a Wurth set of sockets (that I picked up as an emergency last year) and they saved my life, getting the one bolt out that was "stuck".

Amongst other things, a good set of 6-sided metric sockets and spanners is a must !

Crow foot rings, stubbies... you name it, I have the works here. But this week was the first time I wondered what the tolerances are on these sockets and spanners of varies makes. All my Snap-on stuff is imperial from Concorde and Vulcan days, they get used on my MTD lawn tractor V-Twin engine. They fit like a glove.

Onto the tracking bit:
Rave says toe out of -0.23 +- 0.23 degrees (0 to 0.46 degrees)
Which by simple trig is 0 to 4.0 m/km
Where do people run? Road mostly if not exclusively.

The nuts on the front of the propshaft to IRD bolts are best fit for 1/2 inch AF. Also the TD4 aux belt tensioner is 15/16 inch AF. 24mm is loose and hurts your knuckles when it slips off !!

Can you get 6 sided ring spanners ??

I have some old 6 sided metric ring spanners, make? Chrome Vanadium 🤣 (from where I have no idea but probably the tool shop in Yeovil in the 80’s - spent a fortune in there on strange tools 😬)
