Alarm problem. Urgent help required.

Hi Folks,
My 1999 Freelander alarm is very sensitive and is going off frequently as last night 2am so I need your help as I am not popular with the neighbours at the moment!
The alarm goes off mostly when Black cabs, lorries and buses pass or stop near by.
Is there any way to shut of the alarm system and still have the car locked? I dont mind if the alarm has to be disabled permanently.

It's almost certainly going to be an issue with the interior movement detection.

The manual suggests that if you lock the doors using the key, then turn the key to the lock position a second time within 1 second, it should deadlock and arm the alarm with interior protection disabled.
 
Hypoboy - as the OP'er suggested, is there any way to bypass components of the alarm, just trying to keep it simple......stupid.

I know Emerald aftermarket re-tuning packages have a blank for the alarm.

If this advice does not work, you will need to perform the Rite of Exorcism. This is often practiced by some dealerships when faced with seemingly supernatural phenomena otherwise known as 'breakdowns'. The methods employed are usually the same but not necessarily performed in any specific order, you could intergrate some of the moves into your own ritual.

Walk around the car a number of times either clockwise or anti-clock wise mumbling specific explicits, followed by opening the front door and pulling the hood/bonnet latch; pressing all interior buttons and toggle switches sometimes helps. Open the hood/bonnet and peer into the enginebay at the motor with hatred burning in your eyes, followed by more chanting of explicits. Jiggle all unknown wires (more explicits),and twist off the washer bowl, power steering, and radiator overflow reservoir caps and peer inside (more explicits). Kick tires, slam doors and fiddle with the transfer knob, as I do. If the car starts after all this has been done, then the exorcism has been a success. If not, then it can't be possessed, but has some other electrical problem.

Theres no transfer "KNOB" in a Freelander but there does seem to be one somewhere :)
 
I have locked with key rather than fob, no alarm going off in the middle of night and neighbours are happy.

Old thread...same problem.

The alarm has being going off every half hour or so all evening.
It did manage an hour and a half earlier..before going off again.
No black cabs, buses, lorries anywhere near.

Now locked with the key.
I locked it once only.....should I have done it a second time (within a second as someone mentioned).
I can't sit here all night just waiting for it to go off again!!!!

Does anyone know what is actually causing the problem?

If I lock my heap with the fob the alarm will go off within 3 hours,sometimes within 30 minutes.I just lock it with the key,its just one of the small inconviniences I've grown to live with.The fob and key still opens most of the doors,none of which has fallen off yet.
 
Thanks for the info.
I've locked with the fob yesterday and today, and it ain't happened again...yet!
If it happens again I'll start using the key.
