Hi all, I am new to this forum so apologise if this ends up in the wrong area!

I have a 1996 disco 3.9 v8 efi with the 2 button key fob.
After discovering a failed head gasket recently I have done a gentle rebuild on
the engine (heads pressure tested and skimmed, gaskets etc).
Finally finished the build and reconnected the battery and the alarm sounded
Tried the key fob, doors locked and unlocked as expected but alarm still sounds.
Turn ignition on and the alarm stops, engine cranks and fuel pump starts but wont start.
Turn ignition off and alarm sounds again.

Anyone had similar issues or any idea what could be causing this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Adam.

If the siren sounds when the battery is reconnected, it cannot be turned off the normal way by operating the fob buttons.
So to deactivate the siren, disarm the alarm with the fob and then turn the starter key to position ll.
If that doesn't work you have a problem and as for not starting fuel, ignition or mechanical fault?.

Could it be you need to do the key in door lock/unlock sequence? Do you have the original door security code that comes with the veichle when new?

Hi all, many thanks for replys.
Dont have original code, will get it from landrover and reset alarm.
Engine now starts lovely, had a slight fuel supply issue (namely I hadnt sealed
supply and return pipes well enough and it leaked away while heads off at engineering works!)
Thanks again for the help.
