Hello everyone I could do with some help please with my old discovery. I live just out side edinburgh and have owned my v reg discovery td5 a few years now and hardly use it and only really keep it for winter driving
I work as a bus mechanic but have no dignostics for this landy

I locked it up a few months back and this week tried to open with key fob and nothing happend so went and put a new battery in fob still nothing light on fob working. I opened with key and the alarm/horn went bonkers so locked back up to put alarm off .

so I then went to land rover to get eka code 9b65 was told b means 11 ?? is that true . Anyway I tried to put the code in a few times but no success .when I start and turn the key for 5 seconds I am not hearing any bleebs and then when I start puting in the code the flashers flash then stop and then horn beeps with every turn off the key .

any help would be great as I could do with it back on the road asap

cheers Mark

First of all, welcome from an ex-pat.

Secondly try disconnecting the car battery and having a cuppa for half an hour or so. Then try re-connecting the battery doing each connector cleanly so that you don't produce any sparks.

Thirdly I don't like that EKA code. I'm a Rangie man so no expert on these but our EKA codes only go up to 6 so I wonder about b/11.

Fourthly get into the Discovery section and ask your question again. They're a bit rough and ready in there (especially compared to us smoothie Rangie drivers:D) but they certainly know their stuff.

Poss either the fob isn't transmitting or the receiver above the rear head lining isn't receiving, there are a few threads on this subject also the acess code already, u will hav to search though. Check out posts from 'sierrafery'

Thanks for the info I dont like the eka my self my last 4x4 was a range rover 2.5 diesel 1995 and the eka code was easy to put in will have to go out to dealers again as wont give code out over the phone

1. did you follow exactly the EKA introducing procedure as in the book?
2. if yes there is the chance that the EKA was changed by the previous owner and you'll know it just if you read it with dedicated tester...but as long as it's immobilised you will not be able to access the BCU's memory
3. when you locked back did you use the key or did it respond to the fob to lock?
4. if it doesnt respond at all to the fob then IMO you have to replace the receiver
