Hello, I have had no experience working with air suspension and have recently aquired a P38 with air. It has a leak and when it has been left a while and is turned on the 35mph Max warning comes on but then goes after a couple of seconds when the pump kicks in. It seems to be one corner that leaks the fastes and then am I right in saying that the other sides continuely automatically level out? Which is the slight clicking noise I can here. What is most likely to be the problem and solution? Will I have to replace all the bags? Or could it just be a single leak somewhere?

Air suspension is pretty reliable if, like anything mechanical it is looked after.

the usual chain of events is someone gets an airbag leak, the compressor works overtime compensating for the leak, they get it replaced, another goes .. pump working overtime, by the time they get all four done, the compressor is now knackered and then it gets a reputation of being unreliable..

The rubber airbags will be of the same age or should be so if one has gone the others wont be far behind.. if you put it on max height, you'll see where they are starting to fail. replacing them is very, very easy..

there's plenty of threads for the airbags,, the system is inherently very simple.. a pump, a tank, air lines, air bags and a valve block. if its sagging on one corner air is leaking out somewhere.

also its advisable to buy a valve block overhaul kit (about £30) follow the instructions you'll do it in an hour or so, maybe also a replacement piston and sleeve (£30)

The EAS will more or less continuously self level to the lowest point so it will eventually land on the bump stops if one bag is leaking.
If it is an actual bag that leaking then yes I would suggest replacing them all.
I don't understand why the 35mph message disappears. This is normally called a "hard fault" ref Storey Wilson who is an expert on the system.
When hard faulted it normally needs diags to reset. No idea why yours resets

Thanks for replying. I will take all that into account when I go to look about fixing it and will try not to run it too often before hand to save the compressor. I will also look into the valve block overhaul kit too. Any recommended suppliers of the cheaper ( if there is such a thing) airbags as they looked quite expensive from a quick google search?

Thanks for the response. Yeah that's one of the reason for this post as id read about this hard fault buisness and wondered why mine is doing this. There is no eas warning light coming on but just the 35mph Max when started after a while.
