L322 air suspension valve block

hi guys can anyone shed any light on how the suspension valve block fails? it's the main one by the air tank. i have an air leak in that area i can hear the leak but it's not a huge leak (while driving compressor cuts in every 4 or 5 mins to recharge the system. i've been out this morning, removed the cover and checked the pipes are tight. i have also sprayed the whole area with soapy water, including the air tank, but can't find the leak anywhere, the leak is at it's loudest around the mid way point of the drivers door. just want to narrow it down before buying a new valve block.

any help appreciated cheers guys

could the leak possibly be on top of the air tank where u cant access it ????
 
it is possible i'm getting it into a garage hopefully on tuesday to get it looked at, it has been rising slow for a couple of weeks so perhaps the leak has been there a while and has just became audible, i may order the valve anyway because i don't fancy paying a garage twice to drop the tank if you know what i mean. i can't find any info as to if the block has any exhaust valves on it or not.

would assume the compressor has an exhaust valve

maybe someone more experienced will be along to help
 
yes have read codes, i have an intermittent sporadic fault that happens in wet weather, which also flags up a fault on the abs, but no other fault codes on the suspension

yes def an exhaust valve on the compressor, but there is no air feeding back to that while it is leaking, at least the ride height is at normal so i can still use the car, luckily i have a land rover breaker local to me so it maybe worth me getting a used valve block as they only charge £50 for them

i wonder , how hard would it be to drop the tank and test it ,
 
4 bolts but i have side steps so i think they need to come off too, according to my local breaker the valve block is the most common fault but found nothing on net about them leaking

been looking for u ref the valve

rebuilt all my suspension , compressor , front and reservoir valve and new air tank

got to also recalibrate all the suspension yet

then replace the inlet / exhaust silencer and air inlet filter

hopefully it will then be all finished

will keep looking to see if i can find anything ref the valves
 
cool thank fella much appreciated, on mine i have the aluminium tank being the earlier model, found loads of references to the later steel tanks leaking but nothing about the earlier ones but i suppose it is possible, it needs to be on a ramp ideally to see it properly, same with the valve loads of references to valves sticking and causing strange issues but with sides collapsing etc but nothing about actual air leaks.
 
Just been reading on another thread that if the height lock button lights up, the suspension is in a soft fault mode, it's been doing that for a while now, usually when I start the car then it clears once I start to drive

I partly removed my reservoir (thought was leaking a while back) I have steps too....was a bit of a faff, freezing cold too (always the way....don't we just love RR's) but if you need to check the airlines around it, it's got to be done! I think there's airlines that run above it..... One May have chaffed ....

just ti update this i found the leak, the air reservoir tank had cracked along a weld on the back edge, replaced with a used unit, it's all fine now. strangely it looks like the replacement tanks are now steel, bu at £650 plus vat i decided to pass

great u got it all sorted out

the new tank on mine was £120 quid, that's the steel one, have put 3 x coats of dinotrol on it before installation , along with new bolts , planning on fitting it this weekend

really pleased for u , another job out of the way

have u found the feel of the suspension any different , now that it can keep the correct pressure
 
suspension feels the same, but i have noticed the compressor seems to run quieter now, and not cutting in so often so i think the leak may have been there for a while. i'm guessing you have the later l322 which has steel tank as standard, mine is the earlier model, originally they were fitted with a wabco ali tanks but the new replacements look like steel, i have a motorsport company close to me that build all sorts of pressure vessels, i could prob get them to build one cheaper than the LR price.
