Hi, yesterday when i was driving my 95 P38 i heard a loud popping sound like the tyre had gone but not quite as loud. The rear drivers side dropped as i was still going along.

When i stopped i lowered the suspension to the loading position and now it wont go back up at all.

Any ideas

thanks chris

i am fairly new to the 38a and by no means an expert, but this sounds like you may have an air bag split.
These are easily available and I dont think too much of a major job to replace yourself.
You may consider removing the air suspension alltogether, and replacing with coils.
I think there are some specialist who may do this for around 4-500 quid.

There maybe someone else along better qualified than me with an answer to your prob.

As has been said sounds like a bag get them on ebay for about 65 quid each its worth doing all four as they do perish - its not an annual thing though takes about an hour a bag there are threads on here to help hope this helps

Ok, thanks. Just a couple of questions.

Would the entire suspension stop working if one bag had split?

Just before it happened the suspension was working intermittently.

How do i tell for sure its one of the bags? just jack up and take a look i assume.

Forgive my huge lack of knowledge on anything mechanical.

Yes they whole thing will stop. If you try driving then the compressor will lock out. Then its a trip the LR for testbook to clear the faults.

If you are going to change the air springs it`s a good idea to get new retaining clips as well, they are only a couple of quid but can save a lot of problems as the old ones rust and seize in sometimes.
