air suspension problem on P38

another problem with my 4.0 P38...

i was driving back from london yesterday when i heard a hissing noise from the rear, like the sound of air escaping at pressure.

since then, the display on my dash which shows what level the suspension (centre of the dashboard, 4 lights next to off road/motorway etc setting) is at is stuck on the motorway and the bottom light at the same time.
the ride has got noticably stiffer and i think the suspension is stuck on its lowest point.

is this a dreaded air suspension problem? am i in financial ruin to fix this? could one side of the suspension be faulty and the others be ok, or does sound like a meltdown...

any thoughts gratefully recieved...

Financial ruin, no, just a bit of an investment.

Without looking at the vehicle and checking it sound likes an air bag has been puntured.

You need to jack up the back of the vehicle and check the air bags to see which one has been holed.

Theres a possibility that an air pipe has been holed/rubbed through but its un-usual.

If an air bag has burst, you can purchase a complete set of Dunlop Air Bags from Ebay for 250.00 GBP incl delivery, from island 4x4, these are OEM parts (original equipment manufacturers parts) also buy the "R" clips which retain the air bag units in place.

If one air bag has burst I'II lay money down the rest will follow soon and for 250.00 is it not worth changing all four.
