Hi everyone,
I am new to this site and recently purchased a 97 300tdi (was a v8 when it left the factory!), the air con has been running fine, nice and cold until today when it started venting an odourless gas into the truck through the vents.
After leaving the truck for a while and grabbing a burger, i got back in to find water on the floor mats. So now i am wondering if it is just a moisture build up in the system or is this more serious.
Although i am a carpenter i am fairly handy with a spanner too!
Is this an easy fix or a big bill?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Check out the level of the cooling fluid...if it dropped then u have a fluid leak....if not u might have a freon leak..... this one is instantly condensing in contact with air but it's not odourless, it has a specific smell.

It's possible the "gas" is simply condensation in the air coming out of the evaporator and therefore nothing to worry about. It can happen depending on the moisture content of the ambient air and how cold you happen to be running the ac. Is the ac still working ok?
Have you ever checked to see that the condensate drains are still connected to the condensate tray and still free to drain condensate out under the car?

Sorry for the late reply, been working away, had a mate of mine look at it( he had the same problem with his jag) and it appeared the drain tubes under the car were blocked as nicedayforit had predicted. Thanks for the advice guys.
It has also cured a bubbling noise from behind the dash that could be heard when accelerating away.
