hi
Im after replacing the pressure switch on my air con on my 2005 Freelander 1. Does anyone know where I can get one from. It’s got three wires going to it. I realise I’ll need a air con repair garage to fit it but my local garage didn’t seem interested and tried to get me to replace the compressor etc.
Cheers Eddy.

I had the air con re gassed and the day after it seemed less cold so I went back. They reckoned after rechecking the gas weight that my compressor needed changing. So I was having a quick check myself. ( I’m no mechanic ) searched google and i thought it could be that. I removed the wired plug on the sensor and gave it a spray of wd40. Tried again and it worked for about a week before giving up again. This was about a year ago when we had a bit of warm weather lol.

It's unlikely to be the switch, but more likely to be low on gas due to a small leak. The trinary switch tells the ECU that the gas pressure is ok or not. As the AC isn't working, one assumes the pressure in the system is below the minimum requirements for AC operation. The switch itself is actually a pressure sensor that is connected to the Ipack. The Ipack then relays AC refrigerant pressure to the engine ECU over the CAN bus (vehicle data line). Providing the the refrigerant is above 29Psi and below 420Psi, the ECU engages the compressor clutch.
If there's no clutch engagement, then the system pressure seen by the ECU is outside the figures above.

Cheers for the info. I might try taking to kwik fit as they will not charge if it doesn’t work I’ve been told.
