About to hit it with filler primer, had to get it on tonight so it can set and harden enough to paint tomorrow if it all looks good, not ideal spraying conditions woth sub zero temps but will have to do, not gonna wait till summer!

Xtreme measures to heat the rattle can

could save time and put it in the microwave

:p:p:p:D:D:D:D

joking of course :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Pretty much gone through the whole can of filler primer, uses up quick and theres plenty of layers on there, probably 10 or so coats, the colour really does bring up any imperfections, theres one little spot i might need to see to with very fine sand paper but with black paint on rather than the mustard filler primer im sure itll be okay, leaving it overnight in the house rather than below freezing in the workshop to harden the primer, ready for tomorrow hopefully

First coat of the stuff

Still looking good, how will the colour match the vents and such like?
What paint are you using to cover it and will it not chip quite easily?
Currently going over with satin black, was what i thought would be closest to original colour, i plan to do alot of layers and see how the colour is, if needs be i also have some gloss black to shine it up, but its looking okay for now, as well as some clear coat maybe not sure, im think theres about 10-15 thin layers worth of primer yellow and grey together

First light coat of black, Light in here making it look shinier than it is i think

So the paints done, its a little more matte than i expected, but its turned out alright, im chuffed with it so far, not sure whether to add a layer of lacquer. Can compare it to the old one once its out, and ive nearly got it out

Looking great! you are almost at the bracket I was on about, there are 2 screws under your radio if it is the same as mine. ;-)

Do ya know whether you have to remove the stereo? Got one side free kinda from push it from the back but cant get a push on the left side
I am not sure if you can remove that trim under your radio? It is under there.

I had the original radio in and I had to remove the radio first. Mine didn't have that trim but I suppose you can pry that off

The buggers finally come free, not how i expected but still, someones gone to some effort to make this shoddy head unit more than it is bybthe looks of it, gonna have to make somw sense of all this lot!!

Much better, the light makes it evem shinier but it looks like the original, but the fresh paint makes it better, and, it fits a double din ;)

Ended up just pulling that metal bracket off, it only holds 2 screws which no longer exist on the facia so the metal bracket was useless now :)
