:confused:Hi everyone,

I need 2 front tyres on my disco 2 255/55/18 can any one advise me of some tyre choice's please, it's used on the road mostly but with the odd greenlane day and off road course.

Cheers

Adam:)

Thanks for those comments, Not:frusty:The tyres that are on are goodyear wrangler in 255/55/18 which are standard fitment i think i was only asking if there was any alternitives to this tyre that anyone could recommend that would fit an 18" wheel ie different size/manufacturer/type

cheers:mooning::censored:

I've got the same predicament and same usage . Currently have Goodyear Wrangler HP's - anyone suggest something else?

I have general grabber AT2's and I find them awesome so far! been in some sticky mud (not much mind) and they coped fine, yet mine is 90% road car too, and theyre very good on the road! especially when the Ice came the other day!

I used Pirelli Scorpions on my p38 with similar if not the same size tyre (18" hurricane alloys) and they seemed to hold up well. I had tried Kumho before that but they wore out very quickly

Had a look at these how do you find the noise on the motorway and does the fuel economy alter

I agree with jimbo-td5 with the AT2 general grabbers, Awsome tyres for what you want I had them goodyear wranglers on mine, They didnt last 7 months with the milage i do. I just about done 30,000 on mine now and their just on about half way through mine cost me £125.00 each, the garage done a deal because i bought four.

We would agree with the general grabber AT2's. Quiet on the road and good in the snow. Check out the pic in our profile. No problems churning through a foot and a half of snow.

I have General UHP's on my TD5 with 18" wheels and AT²'s on my wife's TDi 300.

I find the UHP's are excellent on-road and surprisingly good off-road, but next time I think I will buy AT²'s.

Why do I say this? When you have a vehicle like a Disco they are so competant at everything you ask of them, there is a temptation to ask too much of road biased tyres. I am slightly concerned that the sidewalls of the UHP's are not quite up to the job of real off-roading and I have no such worries with the AT²'s.

Hope that explanation helps your decision making. Basically, go for AT² and you'll be happy for a looooooooong time.

Hi, I've got Avon Ranger Sports on mine, same size as you're looking for, been excellent in the snow / ice, great off road and quiet on road. Used to have Wranglers but to be honest after reading different reports I couldn't justify the price. No noticeable difference in consumption and fairly cheap, too. Here's a link...
