Hi everyone. Just joined the site it looks great.

I'm just spicing up my Defender TD5 CSW. It's got standard steel rims with Avon Rangemaster 750R16 tyres. I'd like to replace these with wider wheels/tyres but am finding it tricky to work out the best size to replace with. So I've got some questions I hope you can help me with,

What's the widest size I can go to without needing any modifications, and also keep the correct circumference for the speedo reading.

I do a fair bit of offroading so will be looking to buy all terrain tyres

thanks

Steve

Ah went from 750/16's to 235/85/16 with no mods etc needed. You get a better choice of tyres anaw;) :D Btw welcome tae the mad hoose;) :D

235/85/16's (31.73") are a direct replacement for 7.50/16's and won't affect your speedo reading
265/75/16's (31.65" ) are an alternative if you want a wider tyre - you may need to adjust the steering stop locks a tad to stop them fouling on full lock
I run 255/85/16's (33.07" ) on my 90 but they won't fit unless you have a 2" lift
