My series 3 has been badly gloss painted blue, want to change to bronze green but have limited area to do a really top job plus time.I have bought some Paddocks green and limestone paint and wondered if I can get away with a rub down and a couple of roller/brush coats.I realise it wont look fantastic but will be happy if it looks reasonable.Any little short cut tips etc would be greatfully recieved, many thanks coljen.

Painting outside is ok in the summer, we have painted loads of machines outdoors. You want a warm dry day, but not roasting, rig up a canvas or something if dew will be a problem as it dries.

Little rollers do a nice job once you are used to them, try different types, foam, fleece etc. to see what is best.

The more time you spend rubbing down, washing, masking up etc. the easier and quicker the painting will be.

And introduce yourself in the Introduce Yourself section ;)

I rubbed mine down, went over it with a tonne of panel wipes and thinners, then two coats with a foam roller.
very pleased with end result!

get a nice good quality paint brush for tricky areas around vents etc

Wait until the spring weather, you will waste a lot of effort trying to do the job outdoors in winter. If you can get the paint to flow in the cold drying time on cold panels will be a long time and you will not be happy with the result.
