It seems to me (im no expert on this) that its still got the military plates.

The DVLA would need to give it a civy reg - be sure to get one that is on build age, rather than demob time, so as you could claim the road tax exemption.

Thanks. Yeah it seems to be registered here so that part is okay. Also all pre-1980 vehicles here are classed as classic so that's good in terms of cheap tax/insurance etc. It's the vehicle itself that I'm trying to figure out- any opinion from what you see, anything to look out for?

What do you think about the 1986 / 1976 thing? Is that an 80's model, does that mean it's an older chassis, and is that an issue?

Great thanks for the info. How much rust is acceptable? Looks like a bit on the passenger footwell in the pic for example, is that a concern?

Thats not rust thats basically nothing, of course if you dont treat it then it will turn into rust, the reason they rust there is because the inner wing mud shield is bolted solid to the footwell and needs spacers between the shield and the footwell to let the mud/water get away.
Hand throttle as well.
Get some better pics and post them up in the series section for more advice.
