This will be long but I thought it would be best instead of going back and forth, I’ve recently bought a discovery 2 td5 from an insurance write off auction with no paper work, it’s auto with 213k on the clock in immaculate condition it even had 5 Brand new tires on it, It’s just passed a genuine mot with no advisories, chassis solid, when I got it delivered it was in limp mode with the m&s lights flashing due to needing a new xyz switch, that was replaced it had the gear box serviced and a full engine service.

im hoping to turn this d2 into a mobile detailing set up and I’m looking for any advice on other things I should do before I kit it out an load it with 250kg, is it possible for an exhaust back box to reduce power? some days it drives like a dream but most of the time it’s rough and loud between 1900rpm and 2100rpm, maybe engine Mount? on occasion when pulling away the revs will got to 1200-1300rmp before it moves, it’s like something is getting blocked it’s had a EGR delete. It also slightly smokes when in reverse slight burning smell too, with having no paper work or a previous owner to speak to im unsure of where to start, by the time I drive it to a local LR specialists a few miles from me it’s already been cleared out on the run there, the only thing a nanocom picked up was a shuttle valve problem, no local garages near me will touch it, thanks for taking the time to read the paragraphs haha

Any brakes binding?
Italian tuneup?

Autos are revvy
No the brakes are fine but I’m thinking of getting a fresh set with carrying some weight, I will be going down the route of getting it tuned/mapped at some point just trying to work out if I’m best selling it for a van, but obviously I love it an don’t want to do that haha

Thanks mate I’ll give that a try the maf was cleaned out an it run slightly better but not much
With a TD5, if you are in doubt about your MAF disconnect it and then try it. The ECU will set it onto a set prog and it'll run nearly as well as it should with a good MAF.
But if you disconnect the MAP it runs like sh!te on a stick!:(
