Advice needed

I took the challenge of replacing a new rear mudflap on my 2006 TD5. Got myself comfortable with my modest socket and released the 3 small bolts. The problem is the keep on turning with something on the other end which is in the cross member and I can't get in there. Any Suggestions would be truly because I'm foxed

big hammer and a cold chisel snap them off.

as above then if you can get your hands on a rivnut kit put rivnuts in

I think with mine, some I could get to the back but if I remember rightly I drilled out a couple. Mines a 1994 so might be different though I guess.

Mine are pot riveted - stupid idea really!!!

The front ones on my 2005 90 were fixed with rivnuts. You can easily drill or grind the flanges off the rivnuts and push them out.

Put new ones on mine yesterday and had the same problem.

I used the angle grinder to remove the lip of the rivetnut and then punched it through.

New rivnuts in, drop of copper grease - job done.

Just the front one to do now!!

I bought a cheepo rivnut tool of ebay but have found it really useful for all sorts of jobs - well worth buying one
