Anyone swapping a landy for another landy and saying they are looking for something more reliable is clearly insane.

Do you need 8 seats? Its done 20k a year, 1 owner...so try and get some sort of service history...thats above average mileage, even for a landy, not saying its too much just be aware that it may have had a lazy owner that never serviced it.

Get some pics of the important bits, chassis, bulkhead etc..not how nice it looks with a valet.

Could of been some sort of a service/utility truck. Check who the previous owners were. Lots like they may have put new rubbers on the foot peddles, and shift nobs looked like new, no wear on them.it has steel wheels good indicator of a work truck

he he, it will be my 2nd vehicle, so only needs to be more reliable than a 240k mile 1983 110. I have very low expectations :)

good point about the service history, i'll ask about it...
The sales man said it is ex-utility so there should be plenty.

I had a quick look at it this morning, the chassis looks perfect, compared to mine :)
the mud traps have nice grassy mud in them.

the body work is a bit rough, but That is not important to me.

with it being a ex-utility should of had good service, oil change good rad etc. have them take the tryes off so you can check the brakes your self, it could of passed a mot this time but might need everything next year for mot. Have them put it on a lift so you can check the under side for leaks.

When I look at used cars to buy, I always ask for that and they something say that insurance dosen,t allow that. But I have overalls, flash lite ,and a long screw driver, and start to crawl under the car and say to them that my money dosen't allow purchase until i check. then this way you can get grease seals replaced and get a good idea of what you are getting

where do you live? I see that te seller is in Wembly, if you're in the london area, are you aware of the new LEZ compliance laws coming in over the next 6 months that will affect defenders?

good point, I'm outside, in Herts so not a problem...... but may be worth me pretending I'm from london town.

Pretty sure defenders after 2002 are not caught in the lez.

Having read the dealer's other adverts, I'd be a little concerned about this dealer's understanding of the products he's selling.

He is selling TD5 Discovery 2's with "a powerful and economical BMW engine" and apparently it's "cheap to run and insure". Their cars are also "available with a warranty" (at extra cost?) rather than "includes a warranty".

steel wheels? Not the beacons or compair stickers on the back?

with it being a ex-utility

you don't half talk some rubbish

a depender having steel wheels doesn't make it more likely to have been a work horse

however the fact that it's got so many seats would in my mind indicates it's less likely to have been worked

septic anti logic again
