I would like to fit an additional cigar socket by the passenger seat for charging my phone and other bits and pieces as the cb is in the standard one ,but I cannot see an easy route through
the bulkhead for the wiring .Has anyone found a route using an existing sleeve or other,I don't really want to drill through if I can avoid it just in case I hit something .

I did think about connecting into the existing socket I am a little worried about over doing it with the wiring.I was going to put a 30amp relay in the engine bay triggered by a ignition on circuit .

You can take a feed from under the drivers seat. take the panel off and look at the fuse box

Exactly the place I will be taking my additional supply from. I will leave an in line fuse inside the box and route the wiring over to the other side or to the rear of the consul to charge a booster pack. CB Radio it would be better for your transmission if you used this additional supply, the wiring to the cigar lighter is on the small size and limited in amps (it may have a 20 amp fuse, shared supplies with other circuits) So you will find your "getting out" more.
Add : Look in RAVE and the thick brown-pink tracer on the right takes it's supply from the engine bay Fuse box - maxi fuses. I would disconnect the battery (read the section on resyncing the keys in the handbook) and try to avoid touching the paint work or places that will earth your tools if you do not disconnect.

Why are you worried, have you not calculated the total loading u expect? the Aux socket/circuit is only rated at 120watt that's 10amps so well able to charge a few phones, satnavs and tablets etc simultaneously.

Will need a HD two pin socket rated at 30amps if your going to install that size relay and wiring to handle the amount of current.

Discool I am worried in case someone else was to plug in my 12 volt compressor that is in the boot or something with a heavier load than I had anticipated these cars seem to have problems with the electric's just don't want to risk it .Ukadamwest and tnseal THANK YOU both I will do exactly as you advise .

Personally, I would not connect anything the the feed under the drivers seat as that is the power supply for the BECM, plug a tyre inflator into that and you stand a good chance of spiking the BECM.
There is an existing feed through grommet in the bulkhead on the passenger side that is accessible although not to easy to get a wire through.

When I fitted mine with LPG I fed all the wires for the LPG ECU through the bulkhead.

I positioned the LPG ECU on top of the ABS module under the glove box, above that to he left of the blower fan is hole blanked off with a rubber grommit. It would be used to pass the wiring through on a right hand drive model I think.

Anyhoo, you could drill, or even punch a very small hole through the blanking grommit and pass your wire through that. You can remove the grommit quite easily before you drill the hole too, so no chance of hitting anything with the bit.

Your new wire would appear in the engine bay right behind the "charged charcoal cannister" thing for dealing with fumes from the petrol tank (if petrol).

If it's just for charging phones & stuff, I assume mostly USB devices ?

You could hide a multi-output USB charger under the centre console, and wire it to the existing lighter feed. Then just fit a couple of panel mount USB sockets in the back of the console. This way nobody can overload anything. The USB charger will self limit.

My android tablet install uses exactly this, and 2nd output from charger is available as a floating USB lead !!

Thanks for the replies folks ,I will let you know what I decide on doing .I would like to see a photo of your tablet install Pete if you don't mind that's what started this little job off ,trying to free up the socket in the console so I Could fit a tablet.
