ACE warning light

Dear Chaps,

Recently, after about 30 motorway miles, the ACE warning light came on amber. This is the second time it has happened on an identical journey and, after a rest at the end of the 75 mile trip it is no longer on. This is a 99 TD5 and I have no service record so don't know if the ACE fluid has ever been changed; even if that would cure it. The fluid level is OK.
Does anyone know what is sensed in this system and whether I should be concerned either now or in the near future?

sure it will be a sensor fault if its amber then its not too much of a problem the only real way to find out the problem is to have it pluged in (local independant or some one with a haulkeye or nanocom) but have a look here www.discovery2.co.uk / ACE amber light - Pressure Transducer

Thanks for the guidance and link; doesn't sound too bad but reminds me that I know very little about the ACE operation and should read some more. For instance, I was not aware that the fault condition would cause the ACE to switch to a 'default' setting, which I got from the link.

Hi Pat, I think you should look at replacing the ACE with standard ARB's as I did recently. ACE is a great feature and works really well when you don't have problems ,as in newer cars ,but in time becomes a money pit as you have six pipes which can leak (are quite difficult to replace and you need to change filters as well and they are allmost impossible to cleanly remove ) ,a pump ,valve block , that can also give trouble at huge costs but the main problem being it can let you down without any warning and you can't drive the car home or to a garage .It doesn't make a huge difference to the road handling and the reliability is improved ..a no-brainer for me

I remember during a long journey a few years back after about 3 hours motorway driving to Manchester the amber ABS light came on, left the Discovery for 2 weeks whilst on holiday and on return no light and it never came back on since.
Think it had something to do with Manchester rather than the Discovery

Dear All,

Well yes, it would be good to have the old never-fail system. What do the parts cost? How long/big is the job.

Biggeeeee, you may be on to something. And it gets worse. The vehicle originally came from Wigan and, although I currently live in Manchester, I am originally from the Black Country. No wonder the poor little ACE is confused. Now I come to think of it perhaps the non-parking of the wipers is also a symptom.

Its nothing daft like damp geting in the switch/sensor spray it with wd40
