I now have my V8 working properly but the next discovery on the discovery is I now know why someone fitted a non ACE fan belt.. Having taken the car for a quick spin I noticed

Big surprise the ACE system has a leak, but not from the rusty looking front set of pipes but from the reasonably sound looking rear pipes? Is it possible this is just a failed seal? And if so how difficult is it to change (I am more familiar with Citroen hydraulic systems)

seems to be wet at the front too, is it just running back, looks like clamping plate is bent ,replacing seals can be a tricky job, not easy fitting the seal pack and not easy fitting the pipe through exactly square so you dont split an o ring during fitting which you dont know till its all back together and engines running

presumably they changed the pipes but didnt change the seals and then they leak, it seems from the pic that the leak is from the seals, it's not a killer to replace them, that clamping plate looks loosened as well

you have to remove 2 bolts which are keeping the clips on the rubber mountings to be able to pull them out of the block(together with the clamping plate), change the seals and fit everything back with care to not hurt the seals, my mechanic changed the seals in less than half an hour without any probs, you need 2 x RVW100010

When I first looked the front of the valve block was dry, and the front pipes themselves are totally dry! Hence I think it's the rear pipes that are leaking
