ACE Pipes

One of the rear ace pipes has rusted through on my 2000 Discovery and I thought I'd do both rear at the same time £108 each! My local main agent is saying though that because the replacements are different I need to change the fronts as well. Does anyone have any experience of that? I don't really fancy doing £500 on 4 pipes (much as love the old girl) unless I really have to.

I can't see how the rear pipes can affect the front ones

... the rear pipes are connected to the valve block one side and the front pipes at the opposite.

maybe a bit of confusion. There is an ace pipe that runs from front to back that when new is a single pipe and cannot be got out once the vehicle is built. If you need to change it you have to buy a front and back pipe, which together make up the original one and yes they're over a £100 each!

believe me there isnt such pipe... the confusion is cos the old pipes were one piece(valve block to front/rear actuators) and the new pipes from valve block to actuators are made from two pieces, a front and a rear section ... for example ANR6940 = PIPE-ACTIVE CORNERING ENHANCEMENT, REAR, HIGH PRESSURE., REAR HALF ONLY, ORDER CORRESPONDING FRONT SERVICE PIPE TO REPLACE FACTORY FIT ONE-PIECE PIPE, UPPER, VALVE BLOCK TO ACTUATOR

if the dealer meant that when he said front pipes are needed he might be right but a good one would have provided the one piece original pipes, like these LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 2 ACE PIPES V/BLOCK - REAR RAM | eBay ... so @Simon A if the pipes u have looks like these u dont need anything else

Sierrafery... that's exactly the problem. I'll go back this morning and try and order them one piece from MD. Failing that I'll get those off Ebay.

Stick on those who delivered you the wrong pipes to replace them or make u a refund... according to european legislation the builder MUST provide original parts for the cars he made 15 years after he placed them on the market.... so untill 2015 u must be covered. I've replaced mines 2 years ago with the long ones and they were LR branded(made in germany).... but replacement parts are good as well

Hijacking the thread very slightly, I have a leak from one of the pipes on the manifold block. It looks like a bit of a sod of a job to replace the seals so as its not too bad, I'll keep it topped up until I can get round to it.
However, is it an MOT failure?
If it is, I've got to fix it.

I've read in earlier threads it's not an MOT failure,however I've also read other threads which mentioned the leaking fluid caught fire so those MOT guys probably should fail it for leaks from a safety p.o.v....but don't appear to.. Removing the old seals was a nightmare for me..hence I am now de-ACED and happy
