ace bleeding!

Hi, I've left this message in a few different forums hoping someone will pick up on it.
very urgent - - - please 1999 td5.
I have now sealed the ace leak on the block the best I can.I began to refill the reservoir but as the oil reached the top it would go no further! Obviously there is air in the system.Besides having to take the fan belt off to get to the pump, is there an easier way to bleed the system? I would take it for a short drive but the RED light comes on immediately together with the warning tone! Any help much appreciated!


I live in northern Germany and the nearest landrover dealer is quite far away and far to expensive for my oldy!
I will eventually remove the ACE system but need someone with Landrover experience to do that!

Perhaps you need to take a few minutes to find how to bleed the system

If you have the ACE reservoir filled, it should be safe to take the vehicle for shorty but twisty drive, checking/ topping-up the reservoir REGULARLY.

The point of the exercise is to do a series of sharp lefts and rights to get the ACE system really pumping. That's why it is ESSENTIAL to monitor the fluid level VERY carefully.

Using T4 or a similar piece of kit select Ace system bleed

Check and if necessary, top-up the ACE fluid reservoir. note that the pump isn't self priming and if it is empty you will need to remove it and pour fluid in whilst rotating it then refit it.

Raise the vehicle.

Disconnect the ACE actuator links from the anti-roll bars one end at a time.

Fully extend the ACE actuators.

Carry out the ACE bleed routine described on T4 or similar tool on the front refit and do the same on the rear

Reconnect the ACE actuators to the anti-roll bars

Carry out the T4 ACE system response diagnostic routine.

expect to have to do this a few times before it passes a response test, I usually don't do the response test until I have completed 3 system bleeds.

Then roadtest to make sure the light don't come back on and you are done.
