Hello again, I hope everyone is well and enjoying their Land Rover challenges!

Could anyone kindly recommend someone with the ability to turn off the ACE warning light in the batley/Birstall/Cleckheaton (west Yorks) ish area please? The ACE was unfortunately financially unrepairable so standard roll bar system has gone in, now to turn off the pesky lights! I’ve read through the threads with excellent instructions on bridging pins but am very nervous about doing it myself so a point in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Hi. If it's easyer for you to do such an ugly bodge which involves removing the instrument pack rather than bridging two wires at a connector which is easy to reach i have no more comments on that :confused: ... let's hope you dont sell it to a real enthusiast who would like to reinstall the ACE which these days is cheaper to be repaired than converted to ARBs exactly due to the bad advices given by "amateurs" who dont know sh*t about that system and how good it is

Your rudeness is unwarranted and unnecessary. Feel free to buy our land rover and reinstate the ACE if you have unlimited means to do so.

ACE is cheaper to repair than convert to conventional ARB's these days REALLY???! Where are you buying your ACE parts from?!

The system is very good yes....I converted my D2 from ACE to non-ACE and never looked back and would do the same with another D2.
If anything, I think ACE can be dangerous when cornering hard as you get no feedback whatsoever from the car until it is potentially too late...

Apologies, I wasn’t expecting to fire a debate with my question or have to defend decisions taken with our garage to keep our landy on the road. I was hoping for a recommendation of somewhere I can take it to to be remapped or someone far more competent who can bridge the pins, I’ll google it and see what comes up.

I hate to divert you to another forum, but if nobody local on here pops up to plug your D2 in to switch off the 'ACE' in the BCU, www.thed2boysclub.co.uk Are a decent bunch. I'm sure somebody on there will be able to help you ;)

My apologies in advance for any rudeness but it all comes from passion and my love for the D2 cos with all it's ''glitches" i consider it a brilliant vehicle. If i offend too much report me to the admin to disable my account and that's it

Sorry if i seemed rude, i'm always getting nervous when i see bastardised D2s especially that there are non-ACE versions from factory, i bought one with ACE cos that was what i wanted and once i bought it i maintain it as it is ... also IMO a bit of quite "civilised" rudeness without ugly words is not so bad than the stolitidy of blanking warning lights with tape on any vehicle, you said you read my tread of how to bridge the pins, there are clear instructions and pics of the connector too, all you must do is to take a piece of wire and push it's ends into those cavities as explained, i think anybody can do that

I'm sure that you could have kept it on the road with ACE too and i might be able to demonstrate that at lower price if the mehanics from that garage knew what to do... but unfortunately it's too late for that

Then better buy one without ACE from the beginning dont bastardise a well enhanced one i apologise once more in advance for my rudeness but IMO all you know is to make a pig's ear out of that and you know nothing about how the system works... that's why it's so cheap to repair the ACE these days cos the market is full of good working ACE parts as a result of conversions made in vain by amateurs and if it's about a pipe leak the LR forums are full of tutorials made by real enthusiasts how to fix that with cheap hydraulic pipes and compression fittings

Before blaming me that i'm rude see my posts and the efforts + passion i put in helping the best way i can to fix things as ''clean'' as possible rather than botching up anything that's why i'm getting nervous when i see these kind of things.... that's how i am, i can be "evil or divine" ... I would have bought one without ACE if I could have done, but not many ES's come without ACE but correct me if I'm wrong as I know nothing about D2's after all....
With a 12year old car at the time I wanted the simplicity of traditional ARB's for if/when the inevitable happened and the ACE goes wrong whilst out green laning in the middle of nowhere (and as the daily driver as it were) ending up on the back of a recovery truck.

They never fitted ACE to the D3, I wonder why....

cos they've evolved and enhanced the D3/4s with something more complex than the ACE named DSC.... let's hope that nobody will invent a conversion kit for that too

Thanks Sierra, I'm now looking forward to getting rid of that Gaffa tape. I've never liked it, but thought the only option was to buy *the right* diagnostic and I have not been in the position to do so. As regards 'bodging' yes, mine had ACE and now it has a completely different system (barring the light and the empty reservoir). Personally, I don't see that as a 'bodge', which is a term that suggests danger, but I agree it could also be applied in the 'concours vs adapted' argument too.

I also fall into the camp that didn't actually feel any particular drop-off in cornering performance following ACE removal. However, I am happy to admit that this is quite likely to have been more to do with completely renewing the shocks, springs and airbags as the ARB was going in, rather than because ACE isn't as good as some say. I can only comment on my experience.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but DSC has NOTHING to do with reducing body roll.
