Any help please!

Had to replace the inner wing on 93 LSE and so disconnected the brakes. When I reconnected them the ABS pump would not turn off and sounded very rough. I have replaced the sensor onthe pump, the pump itself, all to no effect.
There seems to be no air in the calipers as it is bleeding clear fluid and the pedal is firm. I have pressure bled the pump, not sure where to go from here!

Asked Landrover where the relay for the pump was but they couldn`t tell me, assuming under drivers seat but which one?

So I am left with thinking that ABS/master cylinder didn`t like being drained and has failed somewhere, relay faulty, air in the system- possibly most likely but how to get it out have followed LR advice so far no luck, or my LSE hates me and is taking revenge.

Any help would be more than welcome

I'm not sure if the LSE has the same Wabco ABS system fitted to the Vogue SE.

The ABS ECU, relays and main fuses are located under the passenger seat. Try removing all the relays (there should be 3 of them), also disconnect the main multi plug and also, down load the fault code memory. If that doesn't work I have no idea.

The pump running continuously says either the pressure switch is duff or it could be the pressure accumulator has lost its' nitrogen charge.

You might also want to check the earth connections.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. The pressure switch is good as it was running fine on the donor LSE but didn`t know anything about the nitrogen charge in the accumulator, any more details please?

I think the Wabco system is the same as SE, as far as I can tell the only real difference is the length. The earth is good to the pump and I havn`t moved anything else apart from the accumulator, but will look for the relays.

Thanks again, allhelp appreciated.

Addition to origional post.

ABS pump runs very rough which it did not do on donor RR, sosomething on new RR is the cause. When you open the accumulator bleeder and run the pump its silent and only runs rough as you close the bleeder.

So I`m assuming that the pumps stays on and sounds horrible because there is air in the system its cant compress and so failing to reach full pressure wont turn off.

Beginning to doubt that its the relay as the pump is not running sweetly enough. So assuming that it is not sucking air as there are no leaks and would have thought that air couldn`t enter if fluid isn`t escaping, do I have a problem with the ABS/ master clyinder unit?

Two and a half days of trying to sort it and I think I have lost any perspective on it, so any help anyone.

Thanks
