ABS,TC,Hill Descent lights coming on

Wonder if anyone can help with this problem, My Freelander 1 has started with this problem recently in that the 3 lights for the ABS,TC and Hill descent are coming on. This seems to be happening when the brake pedal is depressed suddenly as in an emergency stop situation, there is also a sort of crunching noise omitting from the brake pedal at the same time. The 3 lights all come on but when the freelander is then left for a while and restarted the lights go off. Is there an over travel switch on the pedal that could be causing this problem. Any ideas?

thanks for that i've just looked at three amigos thread and yes I see what you mean, could be my fault. It's going for mot tomorrow so i'll have to see what happens then and then start to look at the brake light switch. The sooner I get rid of this trouble some thing the better
