Hello, quick question!

Has anyone removed abs from there disco 2, I believe cars pre 2010 can have it removed.

I have just bought a disco 2 however all abs sensors are disconnected(assuming due to lift/wires too short) I know I can get extended abs wires however it's something else that could easily damaged offroad.

Obviously with this the speedo doesnt function, which is an Mot issue however i plan to have GPS speedo anyway.

Has anyone fully removed the abs system from their D2 and had any issues?

I thought if it came with ABS as standard fitment then it must be working for the MoT. Also your insurance company may not be happy removing a safety feature.

Another issue is that the D2's engine management needs the VSS(vehicle speed signal delivered by the ABS ECU based on sensor inputs) as part of the fuelling addaptive strategy as to run well... so better fix that bastardised vehicle raather than think how to remove the ABS system .... i doubt that a D2 can pass MOT with ABS related warnings on or if the 3 amigos are off with sensors disconnected it means that the warnings were blanked as well, if yo want it only for off-road the TC will not work and that's also bad.... in a nutshell: FIX IT.

Regarding the speedometer, the manufacturer installed device is the one which should be working. An additional GPS device is just that, additional and cannot be regarded as a legally required speedometer. Added to which the odometer won't work either, so there'll be no actual record of the miles travelled.
As @sierrafery has already noted the Traction Control won't work, and neither will the Hill Descent control, another very useful control for off-roading.
Regarding the warning lights, I believe that part of the MoT test is to check the "lamp test" phase of start up and the ABS light must extinguish within a predetermined time period.
Rightly there is no way to turn off the warning signals from the ABS, it is an essential safety feature.
As the other members have already said, FIX IT. There should be no need for extension leads to be at any more risk than anything else beneath the vehicle, eight or a dozen small cable ties are all that's needed to secure the sensor leads to the flexible brake lines.

..... it's possible also that the hubs are worn out bad and the sensors were unplugged to not get the 3 amigos... either way it's not advisabe to drive a D2 without well working ABS system

The most safety critical issue is that without the abs module there is no brake pressure modulation on the rear brakes during heavy braking,.
So there's a huge risk that the rear wheels will lock on their own if the car is braking hard & not fully loaded - causing the car to spin if there's any camber on the road or you're cornering at the time.
Vehicles without ABS have differently sized brake compts & an extra pressure control valve for that reason.

My first post so be gentle ;)

I have a D2 but with ACE it's dropped on the drivers side, before me the owner capped off all the pipes, my thinking is that the rams on the sway/roll bars have dropped. So have looked in to it aswell removing the whole front and rear drop links and sway bars it's a 50% 50% split is what I read some people have removed there's years ago on a D2 and no problems what so ever and other says no its safety there's clearly abit more to the threads. So what I am doing is removing the front and rear sway bars and replaceing with standard bars with extended drop links on the rear as it's got a 2" lift. That's my 20p worth:)
