About to give up... cannot get engine running..

Yeah its really huge readings. I took them all out now, we have a diesel shop with certified delphi repair in our city so i will take them there and have them try out all of them and then have them restored as needed. Better to check all of them at once and know where i am with them.
 
You've never accidentally put any petrol in it by any chance?
Had identical symptoms recently on a machine and turned out one of my workers had fired some petrol in it, started it, realised mistake and siphoned as much as possible then topped off with diesel. Ended up admitting it after, having tried everything and like you deciding must be injectors, we got mechanic out. Half hour later, contaminated fuel removed and running normally.
Know you've changed lines etc but did you clear out tank too?
 
I am sure there is no petrol in the tank. Filled it from almost empty and drove flawless 600km that day before problems begun. And there should be quite a lot of petrol for the engine to stop working. Here in cold north we sometimes add petrol to diesel to run them in extreme cold temperatures if winter diesel is not available and they run fine with a few litres of petrol per tank.
 
When you crank it over does the nanocom give a credible rpm reading ?
I saw you fitted a new crank sensor but I wondered if it is giving a clean signal, I read that some have shims under them and some don't may be worth checking.
Mine had a similar fit a couple of years ago but I replaced the ECU and it cured things but I had also done quite a few other things like add new earth straps and a new plug on the loom where it connects to the crank sensor.
I sent my ECU disrepair company where they said it was ok but they would overhaul it for £300+ can't remember the exact number but they offer a lifetime warranty.
 
I didnt take a look actually at the rpm readings. I did not have shims under crank sensor. When i took a closer look the redish wire was starting to get naked. So i took the connector with 10cm extra wires from a doner d2 on our yard, cut the connector i had off and extended with the new one. It didn’t change anything either.

By the way mine did give the top side switching fault which l could read with nanocom
 
Yeah i didnt get any readings. I cleared the fault started it snd checked again, no readings. Im a little confused why it doesnt give any codes since its compensating injectors til it shuts off...
 
The fuel delivery system is not covered by diagnostics and as long as the injector has no electrical issue but it's mechanically worn or clogged the ECU does not log a fault
 
Yeah i knew the fuel system was not covered butvthought that high off values epuld somehow be logged, but good to know that it can be faulty with no log... then i still have some hope. The magnets work on all injectors, tested that before removing.
 
GOOD NEWS. We had some P10 injectors lying around and with a little adjustment they fitted my P15 just so we could get it tried out. Ran perfect. So I ordered a full set from commonraildiesels yesterday and waiting for them now. The issue was one or more injectors gone bad. It solved also the rough idle issue when cold I've had since the day I got the car.
 
GOOD NEWS. We had some P10 injectors lying around and with a little adjustment they fitted my P15 just so we could get it tried out. Ran perfect. So I ordered a full set from commonraildiesels yesterday and waiting for them now. The issue was one or more injectors gone bad. It solved also the rough idle issue when cold I've had since the day I got the car.

Have you put black-top (10P) injectors in a 15P head?
 
Coulf there be any damage done by trying with black tops? The engine rotated freely when cranking by hand and we adjusted pump rods as per manual
 
update. I got the reconditioned injectors. Put them in and all went well.... I thought. Turned out two of the recons were faulty. Could pick them out by reading nanocom comp values and threw in two of my old ones I thought were within some specs. Sent back the two faulty and waiting now for new recons to replace them. Car runs great now except rough idle when cold which is due to one of my old injectors playing up a little there. A problem I have had since I got the car and was absent with the blacktops and even the faulty reconditioned. But generally it pulls real hard and fine now. So hoping to soon get the missing two to get the final touch.

Thanks, but I have a p15 so i have to run green tops. Just made a trial running black tops and p10 lift arm to rule out electrical issues etc before ordering injectors. Thanks anyway

i would have to disagree running petrol mixed with diesel ? the diesel is also a lubrication for injection components adding in petrol good luck
seriusly if the temps are that cold to add in petrol to diesel to thin it out ......what about the the engine oil being to thick for the hydraulic lifters to activate?
glow plugs?
or is the engine now addictive on easy start spray ?

You see diesel works only to maximum of -15C. So wintertime its blended with an additive to hold to -35C and below. Before this was done by adding a small amount of petrol, nowadays there are additives for that but works pretty much the same. Here we run our diesels in below -40C with no issues. Never used any sprays or such. Even 10w40 ran fine in my series 3 landy. Sometimes when the weather goes cold before the stations get their winterized diesel, just throw in some winter additive of a litre of petrol and youll be fine. Welcome to the cold north

you see manufactures of stabilising oils has been well looked into and allot of research to be more refined unfortunately there is cost ..adding in small amount of petrol like the old days into a diesel may work ..what about long term affects? ........welcome from a guy who works with injection systems
