Yes, my argument exactly to the AXA people in the "French" section. The tyres alone were worth that. Not only that, the camping equipment - worth over £1500 - was "my problem" and my responsibility to recover. How much do you think it would cost to get an Oztent, fridge etc back to the UK under those conditions?Sounds like somebody was trying it on there.
Even if your 300tdi 110 CSW was rough as a bear's a*se it would fetch six times that figure maybe more.
Another warning: The garage asked me if I'd "like them to try to fix it". I said "of course" - why wouldn't you? AXA tried to use this as an excuse to wriggle out of a repat agreement saying that I'd now got a contract with the garage which they hadn't authorised....Our conversation was short, one-sided and loud! I won...stand your ground.
