I’ve got a 90 200tdi when I get to about 50 or accelerate a little harder than normal I seem to get a vibration / rate noise. There is no vibration I can feel other than the normal level I’ve greased the uj’s and it’s not made a difference, the front swivel was leaking so I’ve done that and I’ve checked the diff oil levels and they are fine. It’s coming from the front but I can’t figure it out any suggestions? Like I say it’s under acceleration as if I ease off and maintain the same speed it goes away
Cheers John

Wheels need balanced, bearings need tightened/replaced, hub needing rebuilt, tracking out? Could be any one of those. I had a vibration and wobble when I was doing 50 plus. Rebuilt the left hub and its completely gone (the right is also on my list of jobs to do)

Check UJ's again, could be one journal on a uj gone dry and seizing up some. Usual sign is no grease on that journal, brown rust colour on it and it gets hot after a run. Ones like this you can grease as much as you like but it never gets to the journal that needs it only the other three.

Thanks all for your pointers, I checked the uj’s again and ordered some as the back will need doing soon but it’s ok for now, so with abit more searching and driving it this week I decided it sounded more like something blowing so I thought I’d pop the bonnet and see if I could see any puffs of smoke as I know the head gasket is a common point to look. All seemed fine and I was just about to give up when I noticed the clip on the inter cooler pipe had slipped off, put it back on and no more noise!! Happy days thought I’d update the post as someone else might have the same issue one day. Thanks again for the suggestions

I've just got rid of the vibrating noise that appeared the instant I drove out the mot station. Took the rear prop off in the end and it went, put it back on and it's still OK. New one now, sounds like a dry bearing whining at the back.
