Hello, sorry it's long but.......
Two or three weeks ago I asked for a bit of advice about what to check before I brought this 2006 D3 home from France that's been given to me by my sister in law.
I flew over last Friday to pick it up and apart from half litre of oil the car nothing else before I set off. My sister filled the washers for me with antifreeze, well everyone is allowed a mistake.
Sunday and Monday I drove it 725 miles from the Dordogne to Warminster inc detours to see friends from when we lived out there. It didn't miss a beat. It drove almost perfectly. By the way someone said on here that the cruise wasn't up to much. I've never used it in my D1 or the D2 but found it wonderful on the trip.
But the advice I'm looking for. Accelerating from very low speeds to get up to speed to rejoin a motor way for instance there seems to be a little juddering, though accelerating to pass slower cars was fine. Went from 70 to 80 with ease, could that be the auto box or some drive shaft fault. No idea what it's had done to it apart from it had a 23K mile engine out of a Range Rover fitted about three years ago. Belts were done then but no idea about oil pump and no idea what year the engine is but do know it's done very little milage since. She's not driven it, she hated the car with a vengeance.
And the second issue was the radio/CD player. When I first tried it it worked do switched it off and it didn't work again till the next day, but I caught the off button and it didn't come on again all the trip, disc did spin but it was muted. But started working again today. Does it have a separate amp, it's the premium radio ? It was a quiet trip home to say the least, and there was a smell which I thought something was dead in it. Turned out to be Tartiflette cheeses being cooked by the rear heater outlets, not nice.
Decision time, my heart says keep it, my head says get rid and keep the D2.
Anyway if anyone has an idea about the juddering and if it's the box then I'd be very grateful.
Thanks.....Graham
