Done a search and don't think this has been done before,

What parts of your land rover have been badly designed!?

Today on my disco 1 I had a long battle removing two inaccessible screws on the bottom of the windscreen washer bottle that simply were badly placed/designed.

Of course some idiot chose the quality of the metal used on the body work too!

You are kidding me right???

I recently replaced both inner wings and had to strip the old ones down, everything came apart easily and I drilled the holes and refitted it all easily too.

You must be unlucky :p

Do think it poor design to need to remove the entire body on a D3 to change the 6 glow plugs though

One of the most subtle design flaws of my Defender 200tdi... Having to take the timing casing off to change the thermostat housing, unless you cut the bolts down, because they touch the timing casing before the bolt is wound out of the head. Bloody ****e idea and a complete lack of thought. I would name more, but there are too many to remember and even if I did remember, I would't have enough time or battery in my laptop to write them :D

But after reading LRO this month, having to take the body off a Range Rover sport to change the manifolds....

I love the fact that you can't buy a 2013 defender with carpets in because they couldn't stop the leaks so they just took the carpets out

It's a defender, basically a tractor you can drive on the road, barely changed in 30 years

as a freelander owner there are way to many to mention but the outstanding one for me is needing to take the fuel pump off to do glow plug number 4 when they could have just inclined the pump by 45 degrees to solve the problem!! lol

There's always something badly designed on any vehicle - yes sometimes it is the ENTIRE car :D - but you know what I mean ;)

Brake drums which don't come off UNLESS you remove the wheel bearing. Maestro IIRC?

Mk.1 Yamaha TDM 850 motorcycle - the IDEAL way to remove the spark plugs is to remove the airbox, which entails removing the fairing, side panels, fuel tank first :D. It can be done with a deep 18mm socket, but you can only turn the wrench about 1/10th a turn at a time, accessible on one side of the engine only; thermostats in the way on t'other side  Oh, and if you need to remove the rocker cover, then the coolant ****es out because the pipe passes through the cover!... and I digress! :p
