On a more serious note - do you know of any issues with Freelander brakes fading?? The servo on mine does not seem to have enough bottle to cope after the brakes have been used a couple of times - caught me out yesterday parking on a slop and I actually went into another motor - I have called out LR Assist but the tech said that its 'just how the brakes are' - Im still not convinced

What?? The brakes are that bad they can't prevent you from rolling into another car when on a slope  Smells like bull sh!+ to me Outlander.
I know if the engine isn't running the servo will fade very quickly.

There must be a problem there, mine never suffered that.

Go forth and kick some LR arse

if you run yer engine for a few moments. then pump yer brake pedal you should get about 5 pumps before you run out of vaccum. if you don't i'd suspect a leak. maybe the one way valve has a bit of **** in it.

Hi PaulN, is your mate upgrading a Freelander to 20" tyres? 'cos I don't think they will fit, correct me if I'm wrong.

Got 245/40/18 on mine, (01) was told biggest could go?. after measuring these there is 50mm between the tyre & mudflap, dont know legal measurments, but as Yella says alterations needed if its poss.

Clearance is fine, (or are you after measurments?), Handling is much better with the wider tyre.(on black stuff). if memory serves me correct think mph is out by -3mph @ 60mph apologies in advance if wrong. There is a link to a chart on here somewhere that tells you.

My V6 with the correct wheels and tyres was more than that out on the speedo. Well, if the sat nav can be taken as correct?? If the car said 60 the sat nav reckoned I was doing about 7 mph less.

Not sure what is more accurate, speedo or sat nav??

The new car with the same sat nav is pretty much spot on though :D

Outlander,
How old is your Freelander?

Less than 4 months old - admittedly mileage is a little on the high side at about 7k but it has been like this since new - 4 or 5 pumps on the brake when manoeuvering and the servo runs outta bottle - not normally a problem unless you are trying to park and you have to use the brake more than a couple of times.

If you wanted to stay anonymous you should'nt have mentioned you sell your services on Ebay, of which i must add is a great service of which you travel far to help & at a good £rate (no advertising intended?) :D . sure your knowledge will help many out on here.
