Good evening!

my first post here and abit of a long one but I know you all have more knowledge than me!

so I bought an L322 3.0td6, 2003, 125,000 miles, full service history.

1so it started when I bought the car, the car firstly takes about 5/6 turns to start because it either coughs into life or starts perfectly.
2On hard acceleration/ uphill there is a noticeable trail of black smoke from the back but nothing even at 4K revs when sitting still.
3Today the “Injection system fault”. Didn’t get a code as the code reader didn’t want to give me one.
Then the fault disappeared on restart.

back story a bit further before number 3 the day before I added injector cleaner to a 1/4 tank of fuel and that’s the only real difference. I have topped up withpremium fuel and it hasn’t missed a beat since.
I have checked as other suggested removing the dipstick to see if oil spits out (indicating a blocked breather filter) and it does.

this is where I am, do I throwmoney at it because it was cheap enough or…? Opinions are appreciated!

cheers in advance guys!

Firstly welcome :) some members like newbies to drop into the intro section and tell us a bit about themselves and their chosen LR product. https://www.landyzone.co.uk/forum/introduce-yourself.20/

As to your issues:

At 125k miles expect a gearbox and torque coverter rebuild very soon if it hasnn't already had one. Budget £1500 to £2k unless you can do your own spannering.
The L322 requires a compatible diagnostics tool as it's not obd2 compliant which may be why you can't get a code. I would suggest you get the codes read first to give you a starting point.

I would replace the breather with the upgraded version.

Lastly not only is it a Land Rover it's an L322 so you will always be throwing money at it. That said if you can live with the running costs they are lovely cars to drive when they are sorted. :D:D
