looking to buy a 90 thats on a galv chassis and some sites it comes up as a van or pickup, but it is a van made to look like a CSW.

Now is there any implications? Can the V5 be changed so it doesnt show as a Pickup? will it change on the insurance data base?

any other issues to look at ? or steer clear?

Think you will find vin stays the same no matter what you do to the body.

As for issues, best do a search loads of info on here.

Unlike ordinary cars that you buy on age an miles, defenders are bought on spec and condition, age and mileags is pretty irrelevant, buy the best you can afford, it will save you money in the long run.

The main things to check are,
1, is it nicked?
2, is it what it says it is?

Yes the V5 can be changed to show body type, I changed mine from estate to soft-top.

Alternatively I believe many show Utility 4x4 on the V5, that would cover all options.

the dvla are reluctant to change the type anymore as depending on the type shown it has implications on the clean air zones, e.g. estate is exempt whereas utility is not. Becasue of this lots of people tried to change the type to estate based on other examples being labeled as estate. What you may find it is can be changed to the utility class which then encompasses all body styles in one.

I changed mine from Estate to Soft-Top last year, it was one of those things that I had been meaning to get around to for the past 20-years but never quite got around to!
