90 expedition storage thread

Im going for 260kg sliders. Thats each! Its only a few quid more for them and then i dont have to worry about the stresses on them. The aluminium will fail long before the runner does. Will do some FMEA on the design when I have it all set up so I can see where to put the reinforcing bars to best effect.

Wow, I only went for 60kg ones.

Make sure you soundproof the ali a lot as it will transfer sound

60kg - this rating is done with the slider at a given length, on the longer ones this is usually at around 18". When fully extended this would be reduced accordingly. Easy to get some weight in the drawer once you start loading it up with all your stuff.

Its having reinforcement so that it can be stood on, and this will stop it resonating I already have sound absorbing materials on the load area so it wont transfer this into the boxes as they are isolated

Ahh, ok. I am also leaving the sound proofing in and then building the draw on top of it.

Ours is only going to have cooking stuff and food in it, hopefully that won't get too heavy. Plus my draw will only be half the load bay in length.

Got an update for y'all.

Got the shell of the draws built and primered. This is a mock up of where stuff is going

I changed my mind on a half width draw as it wouldn't have been worth the effort. It isn't too hard to get in the fridge and I'm gonna put a step on.

Then cos my eyes were hurting from the evil MDF dust I started making some shelving.

I know it looks wonky but will square up when I start getting shelves in.

Have you considered one of those bulkhead lowering kits... not the bar type...I might do this to aid access from the front?

Got some more done to my draws yesterday afternoon. Painted the underneath of everything. I was going to use car paint, but it never turned up, so had to use stone chip. At least it should be waterproof I guess.

Then I covered it with some EVA garage liner I bought off ebay. No idea how well it will wear, but it is nice and comfy to kneel on. Surprisingly nothing particularly went wrong, even the trap door thingy went in well and is nice and tight and not rattly.

Then I stole Litch's idea and put some angle ali on the font. On the whole I am massively pleased with it.

Next on the list is to sort out some high level racking. I think the wolf boxes will go to the left hand side, and then maybe jerry cans against the bulkhead in a fold down bracket? I also need somewhere to store the hob and gas bottle, so if anyone has any ideas on where to put those I would appreciate it!

Hob you could have as a fold down tray on the rear door? Then fit the gas bottle anywhere it will go and run a line

That's what the chequer plate is on the back door, it folds flat. I just don't have anywhere to store the cooker when it isn't being used. I'm thinking maybe a couple of bolts through the platform and then use wing nuts to fix it when I'm not using it.
