greetings all i am new here, just got our first Land Rover a few months back as a bit of a project and "big boys toy" for our sport of Airsoft.

we got a B reg defender 90, and are in the process of making it look more army like, as it will be used for the games and weekend events. i know this sort of thing is not liked by all but i did not have the cash at time to buy a MoD one, and this way i get to learn as i go.

anyway what advce can you give please on taking the spare wheel from the back door to put on the bonnet?

and i would love to have some way of adding a hatch even a sunroof to the hard top of the defender so i can use this as "top cover" during any games. to have this hatch either behind the front seats or at the rear would be ideal.....do you guys know of anybody who may do this sort of custom work.

thanks,

Andy

isnt airsoft like toy guns ? like wot the chavs think there hard cos they carry a gun . but it shoots small pieces of plastic.

oh well at least you own a REAL vehicle not a pretend one.

Hi mate, this is what ive done with my roof, for foxing (also not to everyones tastes) on our farm. I'm in East Yorkshire if your anywhere near, can make you one up and fit it in a weekend no problem. Could do it in a day if you didnt want it painting, hope this helps. And sorry about the quality of the pic, someone needs to update the forum to accept better quality / bigger photos.
cheers
tom

ok so i havent worked out how to use it properly, but the pics i took with my camera were way to big a file to work?? And as for welding comments, its a hatch in a Land Rover, on a farm, for agricultural purposes, not an overland gas pipeline!!!
cheers

a good weld is as quick to do as a bad weld - so why do such a poor job ?
unless you cant weld ?

still....welding is welding.....if it gave way, where would that "stray" piece of bar go????....still.....suppose im a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to that.........so ignore my comment..

We knocked it up in an afternoon after being sick of shooting off the wing mirror, beleive me ive jumped up and down on it and its solid!!! I dont care if it doesnt look perfect, it was done with a stick welder on a farm and it does the job. I wasn't asking for help with my welding or asking for comments about it, just trying to help Bump out, why is it some people on here insist on pulling things to bits if they dont like the look of it?? (and no dont leave a comment about pulling those welds apart, be original!!!)
cheers

mate....i spent the last ten years teaching aprrentices mig tig and arc....a neat weld is 99% of the time a strong weld....just saying for safetys sake....and ive seen what bad welds can do...just my comment...and i would say that a mig would have been better for the job.......but hey......who cares!!

Yeah fair comment mate, we've only got the stick to patch farm stuff up with nothing fancy. And neither of us are trained welders anyway. The frames taking no load of any description so its unlikely to ever come apart.
cheers

LOL they are toy guns in effect but shooting at around 330fps, and the reason we are all on a database and have insurance for the equipment we use is to stop the little chavs running around the streets with them.

and you wont see many chavs walking around with a M249 support weapon....as it wont fit down his pants :D

surely driving around a forest with a couple of ton of defender firing small plastic balls out ye window would be frowned apon? as for the rear door to bonnet wheet thingy, you can get that done at any land rover/4x4 specialist with relative ease. its not uncommon. chequer plate the bonnet first for strength though. Still can't beleave you would be able to use the truck though, i mean what would you say to folks who ask "does airsoft hurt?"; "well no the air pellets don't really hurt at all but getting run down by a defender is a bit of a bitch"
