Well, I’ve finally decided to part with old faithful 90 300TDI under 100k miles. Having owned it for the past 10 years almost, I’m gutted to have to finally sell it. Unfortunately new addition to the family has prompted the need for a 110 or even Disco 4.....but most probably a 110 fingers crossed!
As most of you who know me, I’m honest and regular poster on LandyZone, in fact I’ve been here since 2013 and even longer but my account was lost when switching over to this format so was recreated in 2013...I think!!. So basically I will be as honest as I can and will be happy to answer any questions as honestly as I can. Having spent many a day and evening tinkering and going to shows with my late dad, I was planning on completely restoring it and putting it on a galvanised chassis and maintain it as a keepsake and memory to him, but to be honest it’s never needed it. The chassis is solid with only a small amount of work being done a few years ago, which was all recorded in pics. The inner chassis has been waxoiled and the external covered in waxoil every 12 months. I replaced the rear crossmember for one of the heavy duty ones fabricated by Clive at Pressbreak which quite honestly is indestructible. Externally it looks like a Defender with some small dents that you would expect. But as I was going to restore it, my intention was to replace these parts to make it look pristine....but to be honest, I like the way it looks, a rugged Landy. Depending on sale price, I may consider include in the sale the following:
- A pair of immaculate rear tub side panels ready to fit.
- New steel front door skins already fitted to fully repaired door frames. Just require hinges fitted and door fittings installed.
- All new door fittings and windows runners, felt and windows rubbers.
- New door handles.
- Galvanised tub capping and rear quarter cappings.
- Pair of alpine roof windows.
- New paintable wheel arches.
- The larger plastic Air Con grill.
- Centre seat (Landy comes with the centre console)
- Plus much more!
Furthermore, ill put it through an MOT so that it comes a full 12 months.
The timing belt was replaced less than 10.000 miles ago, and have done loads on it over the years to look after and maintain it. This includes replacing the transfer box for a fully refurbished Disco one to make it more pleasurable to drive on the motorway, replacing the wheel bearings, the UJS on the props, replaced the steering arm UJ, suspension and coil springs, break discs and pads. More recently I replaced fuel lift pump. Every year I service her despite not driving more that 5000 miles at most. I dealt I would’ve kept it as I have a lot of memories invested in it, but with a another 110 it will just sit - preferably I would rather it was used than be turned into a shrine. Like most of you, I know what it’s worth and the direction price are moving, therefore I won’t sell it if the price is not right. It’s never been off road and has never let me down, it is incredibly reliable and starts on the key. It’s an honest, rugged looking Landy with full length side steps, rear step and tow bar and alloys.
Would be happy to hang on to and fit parts listed above and get a respray if price is preferable, but would rather allow buyers to see that it’s genuine example and that nothing has been hidden and covered up.
I will get some pics posted tomorrow. If you want any details or pics, PM me.
