Hi there, I'm trying to figure out the wheel nut size on my 90 as I'm trying to fit both a spare wheel and cover on my spare wheel carrier.

I need to buy some half nuts as the threads of the carrier are not long enough presently to accommodate the full size wheel nut on there at the moment, the wheel, the cover and then the retaining bolt.

She has a rear wiper so these half nuts will hopefully act to space the wheel off the door and then allow me enough thread to get my cover (white 'defender' disc) and wheel on.

Thanks for your help

I can't picture it. I just removed my rear door spare wheel carrier. I don't recall special nuts. Can you take a picture?

Thanks the one! But seem to have nuts behind the spare wheel to space the wheel off the wiper. These are standard wheel nuts which seem to be too deep to allow fitment of the wheel cover and then enough thread to fix the retaining nuts too.

Will have a play with some m16s

Thanks very much great graphic

Unfortunately? I'm on holiday and the landy is at home but from memory each mounting stud has one wheel nut fitted so that that the tapered side faces outward (this one sets the wheel distance from the door/wiper), the wheel is then on and a second wheel nut holds the wheel in place (taper facing inwards), then the cover / washer and flat nuts fit on. That is with a standard steel spare, not sure how things would differ with an alloy or 'wide' tyre

Mine has this idea but without a cover but the inner nuts are only fitted to the two top studs of the carrier so when the wheel is on the door only the top of the tyre is away from the door and the bottom of the tyre just misses the door so if you look at the landy from the side the spare looks slightly tilted.

think the p.o. has replaced the rear door at some point as i still have a rear washer jet but no wiper arm ever fitted to the door so think the spare wheel was set this way when the original door was fitted as mine is a county :)
