I think with the new dash you need em old ones aren't as bad but new ones defo! I think even with shoulder it's better but I'm only just over 6ft and I tend to lean to the armrest so not as bothered by the frame. Just stupid they cost so much should nick em out the work one haha

If it makes any odds to anyone, im 6'4" i fitted Corbeau RRS seats, which move you 1" away from the door and raise you up around 1" too. It makes the driving position much better and much more comfortable.

I expect with a touch of workmanship you could make a similar subframe to suit standard seats too!

Hi all
Ive had my defender 200tdi for 3 years now and im not a small chap
6ft 5...
every time i go on a long trip or just day to day use my legs only just fitted under the steering wheel and every time i put the wipers on my nee wouldn't allow me to
So i looked up the seat extensions and was shocked at the price for two bits of box with some holes in it so i made my own even welded in some nuts in ..
Im so pleased with them so much more leg room just wish i done it sooner
I whould definitely pay £60 plus for the extra leg room in the future one of the best mods ive done !!!
Just thought i whould let u know:)
Dont forget to tell your insurance company!!!
I did the same as well as installing RX8 seats and a small Momo Quark steering wheel. Leg room issues are a thing of the past.

At 6'6" I have never had any problems with the seating in the Series I, II, IIA, III, 90, 110, or any of the Fenders, and I currently have a 1989, 2.5 N/A 110 Hard Top!

Did you not find that with the risers you end up with your eyeline do high up and you have to 'duck down' to look at the window and the sun visor becomes unusable?

I think it depends on whether you have long legs or a long back as to being able to fit in a landy. I'm 6ft 3in but I have a long back which makes seeing out the screen a bit difficult when watching for the traffic lights changing. I also have a fat belly which caused issues with the standard steering wheel, so I fitted a smaller one. The whole seating position is much different to my Kia Sorento, I would love to do long trips in the landy but I would be a cripple after about a 100 miles.
