5spd Gear Box

Hello Folks,

Need a little advice, got myself a 200tdi classic with a 5 speed box as a restoration project my big problem apart from all the rust is the gear box, clutch pedal seems to be low (but has plenty of fluid) and further pressing has no affect, can change up gear without clutch if i start in 1st gear but reverse in a total no no.

Any ideas ?:welcome2:

try starting in gear, with clutch down, with clutch up and out of gear. tell me what happens

Clutch making no differance in any position, can select any forward gear when engine switched off but no chance of getting reverse.

so starting in gear doesnt jerk the car?? if thats the case you need to inspect/replace the clutch

yep put a new kit in not just clutch

Starting in gear will get the car driving, but using the clutch pedel is having no effect on engine/gears and can only change gears by timing change without clutch.

drove my mini metro around like that for months back at uni!

in that case it was a missing clutch cable. Don't even know if on these its fully hydraulic or cable operated?
