59 Freelander 2 Uneven Rear Tyre Wear

Test drove a Freelander 2 (59 plate XS) today but noticed it had uneven tyre wear to the rear passenger side tyre, in that it was worn on the inside. It was drifting to the left when driving but pulled more so on braking. It is a used car through a LR dealership and they sales guy dismissed any uneven wear & told us the drifting was probably just the road camber.

There were 2 new tyres on the front & two different makes of tyres on the back & the back two were both different makes.

Lovely car otherwise but concerned about the drifting & tyre wear....any thoughts?

what a load of you know what on the early freelanders 1 they had this problem it was to do with the way it was set up on the back end ,first check if it has been in a smash and then you want a four wheel alignment .
 
I always gauge how well a car has been looked after by its tyres. 4 good quality tyres all the same or in pairs, I take as the vehicle has been looked after someone who cares about it. An odd mix of low quality or budget tyres could mean cut corners elsewhere too.
 
Thanks for the replies. The sales guy said a 4 wheel alignment would have been done as part of their approved used vehicle testing but could look at it again. My concern is why is there uneven wear to one tyre?
 
Usually what happens is the front tyres wear unevenly for some reason, could be wrong tyre pressures or more seriously a bent suspension unit that has been involved in an accident, they then swap them to the rear to run them out and fit new to the front. Most garages do not cover adjustments under warranty........until you scream loudly
 
Yes move on find another one, if they are not bothered to change the tyres so a least the same make on the front and same on the rear, better still same tyres all round, then the place selling the car does not care either in my opinion, just imagine what they would be like once they have your hard earned cash, search some more good luck
 
Thank you all, you have just confirmed what my head was saying. It was such a nice car but its no use if there are problems with it. Oh well, on to the next...!
 
If it's a main dealer then ask them for a copy of the Approved Vehicle Programme Multi Point Inspection Check List. It should list all appropriate checks as pass or fail then fixed.
 
From a landy dealer i am sure that would be put right before customer ownership, they won't put it right before its sold in case it goes to the trade
