Hello guys, got up this morning to find drops of water falling from the interior light and sunroof switches.:mad: The vehicle is only about 5 years old. I've had a look at the sunroof runners to see if there is anything obstructing the roof operation but they are clear and free running. Any ideas or suggestions of what to look for next will be greatfully appreciated. I've only had it about 5 weeks and i hope this isn't the start of many problems to come.
Thanks again. One more thing- tried working out fuel consumption and seem to only be getting about 90-100 miles on £30 of fuel, is this right or do i have a problem? Mainly town driving e.g. missus school run, shopping etc, neutral at lights if that makes a difference. Any ideas?

I coated the rubbers on mine with Vaseline and it seems to have done trhe trick at the moment (everything crossed1). Try that and if it don't work go to Discovery Sunroof Guide:)
 
Not sure about the leaking (I know someone who just sold a 53 plate disco with a terrible roof leak problem, maybe you've got theirs :p)

Although I'm getting just under 100 miles on £30 of diesel. Works out to be a tad under 400 miles on a full tank (fuel dripping out of the filler cap full).

I think mine's a bit worse than should be, so I'm going to block off the EGR and see if that improves anything

Firstly im getting just over 125 miles for £30 of diesel for my weekly commute to work which is atleast £20 better than my 95 aero estate admittedly the 95 is more enthusiastically driven!
With regard to the sunroof mine leaked too so tried a temp fix with silicone sealant around the seals and it is dry even after testing with a high pressure jet wash. So when it stops raining il do the job again neatly with mastic.
 
My Disco is 5 years old and it leaks from the front sunroof !!.

According to my calculations your only getting about 330 miles to a tank. Thats not good.

My TD5 always reaches 500 !. ( I do drive steady though ).

I reckon to get over 500 to the tank (auto box), but that's doing long journeys at 60mph. It'll go down a lot with cold running in town. I get better consumption using either 50% biodiesel OR BP ultimate.
 
I have an '02 TD5, owned by me from new (6 and-a-half years). The roof does leak occasionally, sometimes just based on the angle it's parked at (mine points downhill on my drive slightly, also facing east, so the prevailing wind drives water to the back of the roof). You will find that there are a few variables to when (angle, wind etc), how and by how much it leaks in my experience. Wind the sunroof right back & clean all the seals, maybe even a thin smear of vaseline on mating surfaces, and clear any sludge from the seals and it should be OK for a few months again... They all do that, sir!
 
Hi All,
Done hundreds of these, only way to cure them 100% is to drop headlining, remove sunroof cassettes, remove original cassette to roof seal, only need a scraper. Then seal with a polyurathene sealer (not silicone) also seal the two corner drain inserts in the cassette (where the drains plug in).
Don't be scared, it's not too bad a job, I can get headlining out in 30 mins.
Have seen a few where someone has butted the headlining and bust the drains where they come out of the cassette.

Someone please explain...

Discovery sunroofs leak... its a Land Rover thing designed to put you closer to nature. They should explain that when you buy one!
 
My boss had a Disco and he cured his sunroof leak by clearing the drain tubes. Get yourself a length of net curtain wire and locate the drain holes and gently thread the wire down throught the tube till it appears out the bottom. You need a fair length of the stuff probably around six foot. Its the sort of thing you'll probably find in a hardware store. Good luck
