4 link rear suspension modification

Hi, i was wondering if anyone had modified there landy to a 4 link suspension setup on the rear, as it gives better movement over the a frame setup.
Somthing allong the lines of the pic below

It's been done for years, 3 link, 4 link, 5 link. On the front too, as that's very restricted compared to the standard rear! Look what they do to jeeps in the US

With a extended a frame the landrover rear suspension is excellent and capable of more articulation than one could afford coilovers for at around 24".
The thing to do is balance the lr suspension if your doing it for mainly offroad stuff. The easiest way of doing that is 3 link front suspension with high 3rd link if your running a tdi or lower 3rd link if your running a v8
As for four link front suspension triangulated four link doesnt fit and because of the lack of a panhard rod hydro steer is required.
Parallel 4 link with panhard will fit if you run wider track axles to be able to fit the link bars in(one under the chassis and one on the side)
The above is based on experience cos its my job:D
 
Pressbrake, why is that the third link should be in a different place depending whether it's a tdi or a v8?

Discomark, have a look at some of the projects on the Devon 4x4 forum, plenty of pictures there ;)

Believe it's down to avaliable room!
 
So press brake on the rear is a 3 link or a extended a frame/ trailing arm set up better ?

I prefer the extended a frame arm set up as its strong , proven and has predictable geometry.
That said the landcruiser 80 ,the best 4x4 ever has 3 link rear , but I wouldnt be that keen on 3 link front and rear without a rear anti roll bar otherwise some funky handling could result on road:eek:
