P38A 4.6 V8 won't pull, sluggish, otherwise runs fine.

Did they fit the correct cam sprocket ? The later one has the gaps in different places & will screw up the cam sensor timing.

GEMS only uses the cam sensor for fine fuel adjustments & knock strategy. You can try unplugging it, and see how it runs then.

Also what's the compression like ?

No Idea! I paid a clever man to rebuild it, and assumed he'd make a proper job of it! It came with a new refurb front cover and oil pump so I haven't seen any of that. What would I expect from unplugging the cam sensor? Would it just stop running or would it just run worse?

I haven't done a compression test on it, it's been completely rebuilt so I assumed it'd be perfect. That is next on the list though.

I had bad connection to the cam sensor on mine for several months. It ran fine but has error code in Nanocom. No engine lights at all !!

Cam is unlikely to be wrong, but if one tooth out compression would probably be down.

Cam to crank sensor timing needs dual channel oscilloscope to check it.

Well it's not blocked CATs. After a rather loud test drive up and down it's still sluggish. Didn't get the chance to put it back together brfore the heavens opened, but I'll do a low range test as soon as I can find an evening to do it.

I'm startying to wonder if it's something gearbox related rather than engine. I think going through it all again checking everything it plugged in and seated correctly is necessary.

Can you do a live data recording ? Nanocom is a bit slow for this but can be useful. A modern generic OBD with live data can access GEMS so might give more help ?

I can do one with the Nanocom. That's prbably the best I can mange easily. Just live data for all the engine sensors is what I need to do is it?

does it tell you what gear (eg. D) you are in via the dash display? if not then you're in limp mode, which is 3rd gear

I'll check it. It does tell you what gear you're in on the Nanocom, but I can't remember if that's reflected on the dash. Would limp mode come up as a fault in the Nanocom? Because there are no faults on the Nanocom.

i'm pretty sure it shows in the nano gearbox section, still worth checking the dash to make sure it says D, does the sport button work?

Sport button certainly lights up.... I haven't done a specific test, so I can't be sure it's changing the changes (if you see what I mean) or not.

t
Nanocom files....

The gearbox one has illegal charaters apparently so it night not work.

I'm not sure what it shows really but I'd appreciate some other opinions.
he one that really stands out.. volts
9.x is waaaayyyyy too low and certainly a cause of at least some issues, including limp mode

get it charged up, at such a low voltage it might be dead
if the actual voltage is ok then you have a connection issue
