300tdi specific buying tips?

before you all shout search, I have, and only found the general defender buying tips, just wondered if there was anything 300tdi specific I should look for.
I've found a defender, pretty much decided I'm buying it, but want one last look for nasties.

Its had a P gasket recently, and a service, anything else on the 300 I need to know.
I seem to remember something about bolt holes on the engine and number of head gasket changes, but I'm damned if I can find it again

Hi tim

find out when the timing belt was last done and lift the sound dedening cover and look for leaks from rocker cover and injectors, can't think of anything else

cheers, checked for leaks under there, rocker cover needs a new gasket, but theres one comes with it!! injectors seem ok, timing belt will need doing in the next 12 months, just looked at the price and nearly fell through the floor...

£35, the one I did on the bus I have now was £250, I checked twice, that was a no-names kit mind, but the dayco belts seem an ok price by themselves,

The engine is the last thing you should be worrying about, corrosion will be your worst nightmare.
