I didn't do this one I built another one & sold it recently as someone made me a stupid offer.
The garage I bought it from was doing the work for this lad & couldn't get it running as the pump timing was out
Got it here & had it running in 1/2 n hour I can rip it apart & check it tho :D

No, don't bother. I've no idea what's going to appear when I take the head off yet! If it all goes pear shaped I know you've got it :)

Hopefully you'll be as lucky as we were when the headgasket went few years ago. I wasn't sure sure what the faf faf faf sounds was, thought exhaust and drove it gently for a week before booking it into garage. They said hg leak near bulkhead and good news that head was fully good and just needed the gasket. No coolant or oil loss
Might have attempted repair myself nowaday as learned alot over the years. Next year is timing belt time and considering a diy'er

Cheers! Yes, hopefully, it's not too bad. However, it's not long since I rebuilt the engine, so the head gasket shouldn't have gone.
How many miles did your engine have on it when the head gasket went?

Around 145K miles. Guess 1st hg change as seller in Balloch didn't mention they did it and no service papers prior. Came from N Ireland.
It was in good cond when inspected it and handed over the cash. Gaffa tape keps us try when we drove it home. Replaced most parts since, incl had to buy a mig welder

145k is ok for first HG change.
Someone else from near the Bonnie Banks :) Or, did you travel a long way to buy your Landy?

Aye long drive from north east. Where the seagulls rule the streets. Had to remove the roofrack as bird got stuck under it when it took off late from the road. Mighty fast 300tdi
