300tdi low clutch biting point

Hi guys

just a quick one. went for a long drive in the landy this weekend and when i started her up this morning the biting point on the clutch was really really low. like a few cm and your away. used to have an inch or so before it engaged. also feels less mechanically if that makes sense, almost like the pedal doesn't want to raise up. any ideas? still drives great

Air in the system or tired seals. Replace master and slave cylinder and you'll be good to go.
 
Probably your slave cylinder then. Experience taught me that one usually fails shortly after the other. If you have a new master cylinder, it will exert more pressure on the tired seals of the slave cylinder hastening their demise.
 
i think it is the slave cylinder as theres a wet patch on the floor under the clutch pedal :(

Is it an expensive thing to replace? or can i do it myself?
 
That's the master, the slave is on the gearbox bell housing.
Deffo a diy job, bit fiddly maybe but hard to get wrong.
 
I have had a non original clutch master cylinder fail within a year. Make sure you get a Lockheed or similar part. The seals on the cheap ones are made of toffee. It is possible to just change the seals, which can save a bit of dosh.
