Hi Guys,
Quick question. Have a leaking (oil) lift pump so decided to swap out the one on (looks like cheap pattern part) with a spare Delphi. Took the old one out and noticed that the the arm on the new delphi is offset. Has this been bent in transit or is it an improved design. Doesn't look right to me. see pic.

Thanks in advance

I had similar with a britpart one and it wasn't as bad as yours. I tried to bend it to the correct shape but it was impossible really, the arm is thick steel and, in my opinion, couldn't be damaged and was pressed incorrectly during manufacture.
I eventually got fed up of these pumps and fitted a facet electric one.

It is definitely damaged so I would return for a replacement. I prefer the mechanical pump to an electric, but have to agree that even quality replacements do not last that long. I can get about 30-60k out of a pump, which sounds like a lot but for me is only about 18month to 2 years. I treat lift pumps almost as a service item and make sure I always have a spare on the shelf. That life splan is also now I am back running Derv, when I was running veg oil the life span was about 5k and the pump got replaced every service.

I did read somewhere that fitting a spacer between lift pump and engine helps the longevity. Glencoyne engineering sell them.
